Infiniti QX50 2019 Review

A couple of weeks back we went to Salalah, Oman to test drive the all-new Infiniti QX50. In this article, you will be able to find the highlights of this new model, a quick comparison against the outgoing model, prices, and specifications, which are the most important factors if you are a potential buyer.
You are an Infiniti QX50 customer if you are a person who likes riding premium stuff but keeping a low profile at the same time. Also, if you want to drive something that feels sedan-ish but gives you a bit more presence on the road. You will be buying an Infiniti QX50 (or any Infiniti), if you are picky in terms of customer experience since they are the best in the region as per JD Power Customer Satisfaction (something very, but very well needed here. Finally, if you are willing to spend approximately AED 171,000 for the basic option and AED 245,250 for the fully loaded model, then you’re probably a QX50 customer.
What is THE new thing / highlight of this car? The engine. Since with the QX50 we have a world's first by introducing the VC-Turbo. Now, what does this means? In a nutshell, it combines the best of both universes in an engine, performance and efficiency. In friendly English and if you are in a hurry you will be able to get a bit of a kick and if you are not you will be able to save money and help the environment. As per Infiniti and versus the outgoing model you can get up to 35% improvement in fuel efficiency. The VC Turbo engine is paired with a - never accepted by the journalist community but very accepted by car owners - CVT transmission.
When it comes to the design, the QX50 presents, once again and after the QX80, what they have called Powerful Elegance design. To be honest, I'm not good with this marketing terminology. However, if you see the car from the exterior it's elegant and has some sharp lines that give it that sort of aggressive touch. Something you will find in powerful / sports cars.
I'm particularly obsessed with the interior in cars. I appreciate the quality of the materials, especially when we are talking premium, space, and how easy to use the functionalities are. I give this boy my respects. When it comes to quality, especially if you are driving the top of the range (AED 245,250) you have that natural leather with some imperfections with the stitches that make it just perfect and real. Space is also there. While it's not a big car, five people can easily travel. Better if you are four of course. But to make it even better you have a sliding rear bench that will give you more leg room. The 2019 QX50 features 2 screens to control everything in the car. In the beginning, I felt it was going to be confusing, but it's not. Information and actionable buttons are well placed for both driver and passenger.
Some of the notable features and technology you can expect to find in this car are: predictive forward collision warning, lane departure warning and prevention, backup collision intervention, intelligent cruise control (essential for those trips to Abu Dhabi), forward emergency braking, distance control assist and blind spot warning and intervention.
