UAE made Al Reem SUV unveiled in Abu Dhabi

Emirati automotive company Sandstorm has unveiled its first SUV, Al Reem, in Abu Dhabi. A pioneer in the way that it’s the first SUV to be manufactured in the UAE, the brand plans to manufacture 1,000 cars in the first phase and 6,000 cars in the second phase with sales across the Arab region expected to commence in 2019.

Equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 214 horsepower, Al Reem’s powerplant is accompanied by a bold design that boasts a sleek exterior and a leather-clad interior. Narrow headlamps flank a sizeable grille while deep fog lamp housings make for a striking first glance. The larger wheel wells and raised profile come together to connote its off-road abilities.

Dr. Majida Al Azzazi, Founder and CEO of Sandstorm Automotive, said: “We are proud to be the first in the region to manufacture the first Arab SUV. Al Reem will be manufactured in three trim levels with prices ranging from AED 138,000 to AED 185,000. With time we also plan to launch our first pick-up truck, the S24.”

The main manufacturing plant is to be in Abu Dhabi’s Al Rahil area, the Middle East’s first car city, and measure 15,000 square meters. A temporary assembly line is to be built in July with production scheduled to begin in September.
