MG Whale | A Funky Compact SUV

Today I reviewed the MG Whale, which has a unique and cute name compared to most cars these days. I’ll walk you through its design, drive experience, and pricing. MG has been impressing me lately with their car designs, especially the MG GT sedan, which offers a lot of features at a great price. MG’s strength is in offering value where others are getting too expensive. The exterior of the Whale is simple but stylish, with nice details like piano black accents on the alloy wheels and a smooth fastback shape. I wasn’t a fan of the black spoiler, but that’s just personal taste. The cargo space is generous, and the interior really stands out. The seats are a mix of blue and white leather, with soft artificial leather on the doors and dash, designed to mimic whale skin. The layout is driver-friendly, with a flexible steering wheel and a wide, unobstructed view. The dual-screen setup includes one for driving data and one for infotainment, which makes things easy even though the AC controls are on the screen. Thankfully, the screen is divided clearly into sections for easy access. It has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though Apple CarPlay only works with a cable. Other features include a panoramic sunroof and roomy back seats—even for someone tall. Driving it feels smooth, thanks to great suspension and strong noise insulation, even at high speeds. It has a 2.0L turbocharged engine with 231 hp and 317 Nm of torque, which is quite sufficient for a mid-size SUV. Fuel consumption stood at 13.4L/100 km after about 24 minutes of driving. Drive modes include Eco, Comfort, Sport, and a customizable option. The car even includes fun design touches like a whale-tail shaped gear lever and seat details. Starting at 94,000 AED, the price is quite reasonable given the features, performance, and design. For the latest pricing, visiting an MG showroom is the best bet.
