About This Video

The Mitsubishi Montero Sport is a simple yet capable SUV based on the well-known Pajero, sharing mechanical components and some interior features. Unlike the Pajero, the Montero Sport is longer and accommodates up to seven passengers. It comes in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive variants, with engine options including a 2.4L four-cylinder or a more popular 3.0L V6 producing 214 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. Though not the most powerful, its torque is well-suited for towing and off-road driving. It features an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD system, which allows switching between drive modes for different terrains. The SUV includes various off-road features like hill descent control and rear differential lock. Design-wise, it’s not the most modern but seen as an improvement over the Pajero. All trims come with 18-inch wheels, and the interior, while slightly outdated, remains functional with decent space across all rows. The digital gauge cluster is customizable, but the center screen lacks Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It does, however, include an HDMI input for screen mirroring. Traditional AC buttons are present, which many find refreshing. The drive is stable and comfortable, though the engine can feel underpowered during highway overtakes. Overall, it’s a solid option for families who enjoy occasional off-roading and need space and utility on a budget.
