Lamborghini Temerario Review: Goodbye V10, Hello V8-Hybrid!
Tags:
Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come: Lamborghini’s notorious V10 is no longer with us, long live the V10! The successor to the Huracan has finally arrived, and it’s as thrilling as expected - meet the 900+hp Lamborghini Temerario. This “baby” supercar from Lamborghini is anything but small in its capabilities and performance.
An Electrifying Powertrain
At the heart of the Lamborghini Temerario lies a groundbreaking 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, coupled with three electric motors. The powertrain delivers a staggering 920 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, catapulting the supercar from 0-100 kph in just 2.7 seconds. Lamborghini’s decision to go with a hybrid setup isn’t just for efficiency; it’s about taking the performance to unprecedented levels. The electric motors work in tandem with the V8, with one motor mounted on the gearbox producing 150 hp, and two axle-mounted motors contributing 82 hp each.
The Temerario’s 3.8-kWh lithium-ion battery, while compact, is versatile. It can be charged via traditional AC power in 30 minutes, through regenerative braking, or directly from the V8 engine itself. Interestingly, when in EV mode, the Temerario operates as a front-wheel-drive car… a front-wheel drive Lambo was surely not on our ‘list of weird automotive things to happen in 2024.’
Engineering Marvels Under the Hood
Lamborghini has gone to great lengths to ensure that the Temerario is as sophisticated as it is powerful. The engine, running a remarkable 36 PSI of turbo boost, is coupled with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing for lightning-fast gear changes. With a redline set at 10,000 RPM and a valvetrain safe up to 11,000 RPM, we can’t wait to hear what the Temerario’s V8 sounds like!
Additionally, the Temerario’s all-aluminum space frame chassis marks a departure from the Huracan’s carbon fiber and aluminum architecture. This new design increases torsional rigidity by 20%, enhancing both handling and safety. Despite the robust build, Lamborghini has managed to keep the dry weight to 1715 kg, which can be further reduced to 1690 kg with the track-focused Alleggerita package. The package not only sheds weight but also adds performance-oriented features like a carbon fiber rear wing and specialized aerodynamics.
Aggressive Aerodynamics and Striking Design
Visually, the Lamborghini Temerario is unmistakably a Lamborghini. Its design draws inspiration from its predecessors—the Huracan and Gallardo—while incorporating new elements that make it a standout. The fascia, with slim LED headlamps and hexagonal daytime running lights, immediately grabs attention. The iconic hexagonal motifs are a recurring theme, visible in the air intakes, tail lights, exhaust outlets, and even the alloy wheels.
The Temerario’s aerodynamic efficiency is unmatched, boasting a 103% improvement over the Huracan Evo, and a staggering 158% with the Lightweight Pack. The underbody is equipped with vortex generators, ensuring optimal airflow toward the rear diffuser, while the concave roof directs air to the rear spoiler. These features, combined with advanced aerodynamics, ensure the Temerario remains glued to the road, even at its top speed of over 340 kph.
Luxurious and Driver-Centric Interior
Inside, the Temerario mirrors the Lamborghini Revuelto with a fighter jet-inspired cockpit. The driver is treated to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a central floating 8.4-inch display, and a slim 9.1-inch display for the passenger. Hexagonal motifs continue throughout the cabin, from the AC vents to the infotainment system graphics.
Lamborghini has prioritized comfort in the Temerario, offering heated and ventilated ‘comfort’ seats with 18-way electric adjustment. The new chassis provides more headroom and legroom, accommodating even the tallest drivers with ease. For the tech-savvy, the supercar comes equipped with onboard telemetry, augmented reality navigation, and even a dashcam.
The Lamborghini Temerario goes on sale later this year or early in 2025.
