Driving Experience of the Mercedes C200 Avantgarde

If you are considering purchasing a Mercedes, you can expect several constants, such as comfort, elegance, and easy handling. To confirm that no Mercedes is perfect, we decided to test the C200 Avantgarde to see what we could uncover. While it was challenging to find any flaws in this vehicle, we managed to identify two; continue reading to learn more.

Performance

As you would expect from a Mercedes vehicle, the handling of the C200 is superb. It corners smoothly and takes sharp turns with ease. The brakes are impressively responsive, especially when applied suddenly. The electronic stability control system ensures a smooth ride on the road. Of course, it comes equipped with airbags in the front and rear, along with a brake assist system. Since it is always ready to meet your needs, be prepared for the investment required to own it.

You will find a rear-wheel drive system in all models, and the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine feels more powerful than its specifications suggest. You will definitely find it more potent than you expect, with an output of 181 horsepower and a torque of 250 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 225 km/h. It’s a true delight!

Speaking of acceleration, do you want to take off quickly? Just press the button on the accelerator pedal… yes, a button! There is a button located under the accelerator that signals your desire for genuine acceleration. This way, you will experience the actual boost. We suspect that the system in the car is designed to reduce fuel consumption under normal driving conditions. Was it the best driving experience? Well, initially, it takes some time to get used to the acceleration button under the pedal. It’s not difficult, but it may confuse you a bit at first. This addition is part of the changes car manufacturers are implementing in response to environmental regulations. The Mercedes C200 is decent in terms of fuel consumption, with CO2 emissions estimated at 195 g/km. It may not be the most eco-friendly car, but for a Mercedes, it’s akin to signing the Kyoto Protocol.

Interior

Like the quality of handling, the interior of the car is excellent, as you would expect from Mercedes. It is luxurious and sporty, featuring an easy-to-read dashboard. This is a vehicle designed for comfort and elegance. The seats are extremely comfortable and, of course, fully adjustable. Perhaps the only minor criticism is the fire extinguisher located under the driver’s seat, which protrudes slightly and may rub against your foot if you’re not careful while entering the car (yes, I’m still alive, don’t worry!).

Inside, you will find ample space for both legroom and headroom. The trunk is more than sufficient, offering a capacity of 475 liters. You can carry up to 100 kg on the roof, and it can tow 740 kg, but this car is designed for acceleration. There are some wonderful design touches in the Avantgarde, including ambient lighting, adjustable heating between the driver and rear seats, and the option for heated seats if you wish to indulge yourself in the heat of the Middle East!

Conclusion

At around 150,000 AED, this car guarantees you prestige and a sporty driving experience. It is certainly not as expensive as the top-tier BMW coupe, but it’s slightly pricier than the Audi A4. Having previously tested the Audi A4, we can say that the driving experience in both is excellent, and you will need to decide which one suits you best. Nevertheless, you can view a comparison between the Mercedes C200, Audi A4, and BMW 1 Series Coupe for a detailed analysis of their technical differences.

From a lifestyle perspective, the C200 is more suitable for young professionals and families with young children. Keep in mind that maintenance costs are above average once the warranty period expires; apart from that, it’s a fantastic car to be in.
