2013 Peugeot 508 Review

The 2013 Peugeot 508 is a stylish sedan that offers more than just an attractive exterior; it's a strong contender in the midsize sedan category. We conducted a comprehensive review after taking it for a spin in Dubai and on the highways.
Performance
We tested the Allure trim, which features a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 156 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. It comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and cruise control. Notably, this model is one of the few midsize sedans equipped with an engine smaller than 2.0 liters, making it a strong competitor in terms of fuel efficiency.
Despite its 1.6-liter engine, the Peugeot 508 feels more powerful, thanks to the turbocharging that provides impressive acceleration and high-speed performance. This power does not compromise handling; the Peugeot 508 features responsive steering and minimal body roll during turns. Parking is a breeze, making slow-speed maneuvers excellent, with front and rear parking sensors that assist in distance measurement.
Peugeot has a reputation for stiff ride quality, but this is not evident in the 508. The smart front suspension system ensures a comfortable ride for both the driver and passengers, with minimal engine noise.
The driver’s seat is elevated compared to other sedans in its class, providing better visibility of the road. The steering wheel, which includes stereo controls and cruise control buttons, is adjustable for height and tilt, allowing drivers to customize it for comfort.
One aspect we found frustrating was the start button. It requires the driver to press it while simultaneously applying the brake, which can be tricky at first. However, it becomes second nature once you get the hang of it. Nonetheless, the French manufacturers should consider developing a more intuitive start system for future models.
Interior
To compete in the crowded midsize sedan segment, a car needs to be spacious and well-equipped, and the Peugeot 508 delivers on both fronts.
There is ample legroom and foot space in both the front and rear, comfortably accommodating four passengers. The seats are comfortable, featuring an additional air conditioning unit in the back with separate controls.
The trunk space is impressive, with a wide design that makes loading and unloading effortless. It is large enough to compete with other popular midsize sedans, and the rear seats can fold down if extra space is needed.
The Allure trim comes with exceptional features, including a satellite-linked navigation system, a radio with an eight-speaker CD player, and Bluetooth connectivity. It also includes an electric sunroof with a pinch protection feature, along with tinted rear and side windows.
One notable feature is the cup holders, which are well-placed on the dashboard and open like a CD player, making them easy to use for the driver. However, they do appear a bit flimsy compared to the other higher-quality components in the cabin. While they serve their purpose, we recommend enhancing their design in future models.

Conclusion
The Peugeot 508 is a competitive option against most of its midsize sedan rivals, thanks to its impressive performance and high level of equipment. Coupled with its spacious interior and trunk, it makes for a solid choice for a family vehicle or for business use.
In terms of pricing, the fully-loaded model is priced at 105,900 AED, which is comparable to the Volkswagen Passat and the Volvo S60 T4. Check out the comparison page on YallaMotor to see the differences among these models.
