2013 Volkswagen Jetta Review: Exceptional Design and Performance

Introduction
In its previous models, the Jetta was known as a compact sports sedan. How does the new 2013 model compare? It’s larger and more affordable! That’s right. The new Jetta offers more space at a lower price than its predecessors.
Safety System
The ICRS (Intelligent Crash Response System) is an automatic feature that unlocks the doors, shuts off the fuel pump, and activates the hazard lights in the event of airbag deployment. This is just one of the many advantages of the new Jetta!
Interior
At first glance, the interior appears moderate yet attractive and luxurious, especially with the high-quality leather seats. However, why did Volkswagen place the ignition button in an awkward location? I found it impractical, situated right in front of the gear shift.
Finding a comfortable seating position was easy, and I appreciated the electronic seats with adjustable lumbar support that can also be adjusted electronically.
Space and Comfort
The space inside honestly made me forget I was sitting in a compact sedan. Even the rear seating area was spacious. Headroom and legroom were ample for adult passengers to sit comfortably. However, it’s not suitable for five people because the suspension tunnel can obstruct the feet of the person sitting in the middle. But don’t worry, the rear seat passengers have access to a power outlet and dedicated ventilation vents for added comfort.
Controls and Feel
The steering wheel, made from soft leather, felt very pleasant to touch. It includes all the buttons you need for easy access.
The interior surfaces also felt nice. However, the door edges were made of reinforced plastic to keep costs down.
I was also impressed by the large, user-friendly touchscreen display. This vehicle boasts numerous entertainment system features, including:
- FM/AM Radio
- AUX Input
- Media Card Slot
- iPod Connectivity
- Bluetooth System
Performance
So, how does the Jetta perform on the road? Being similar to the Golf but with a longer wheelbase and rear, you can expect better handling compared to its competitors in this class.
The steering is precise, though it can sometimes feel heavy. However, this adds to your control and confidence at high speeds and during cornering.
The suspension is somewhat firm, but it handles most bumps and road imperfections beautifully.
Performance Drawbacks
When it comes to driving downsides, the real drawback is undoubtedly the engine. Unfortunately, in the Gulf region, we only receive the 2.0 cylinder engine with a power output of 115 horsepower.
Conclusion
Do you have at least 70,000 dirhams in your account? Are you a fan of German cars? Does it matter that the new model isn't as premium as previous iterations? Are you looking for a spacious compact sedan that combines practicality with driving pleasure? If so, the Jetta is exactly what you need!
