2014 Cadillac Escalade Review - The Luxurious SUV
Tags:
Introduction
I can easily envision this vehicle in black, with tinted windows, and men in black suits and sunglasses emerging from it as they accompany the president around the city. Here comes the 2014 Escalade with its 6.2 V8 engine.
Competition
The Escalade is undoubtedly a strong competitor against the Nissan Patrol, Lexus LX 570, and Infiniti QX 56. It appears that Japanese manufacturers are changing the engine alongside some minor tweaks. General Motors has done the same with the Cadillac, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon. So, what's the difference? Aside from some small changes in the interior and exterior design? Not much. Most updates will be in technology, and in the case of Cadillac, it is the stylish model from General Motors.
Elegance
Elegance
The Escalade has improved its appearance since 1999. In my opinion, this model is enhanced even more. The design seems to be crafted in an extremely elegant manner, featuring numerous LED lights that make the vehicle appear even more stylish.
The Escalade is a strong contender against Japanese cars, being more elegant. It seems that General Motors is aiming to compete with luxury SUVs. So watch out, Porsche and Land Rover, the Escalade is coming!
Interior Quality and Materials
Interior Quality and Materials
When you use the automatic step to enter the vehicle, you will be surprised by the interior. It is much more beautiful than before. The leather used is of handcrafted quality, and suede is found everywhere, complemented by elegant wood and high-grade materials. It’s hard to find the shortcomings of American cars we've seen before; you won't notice much plastic. The interior is truly beautiful.
Interior Space and Visibility
Interior Space and Visibility
If you've ever flown business class, imagine this. You breeze through check-in without waiting in line. You board the plane with a warm welcome, escorted to your seat with refreshments offered as the plane fills up. The flight attendant introduces you to the available entertainment systems and provides a blanket if you feel cold. The Escalade makes you feel this important and comfortable, whether you're the driver or a passenger.
Technology and Features
Technology and Features
This is the fourth generation of the Escalade. Like previous generations, they produced both a long wheelbase model and a short wheelbase model. The long version measures 5.6 meters, while the short version measures 5.1 meters.
Safety Features
Safety Features
The safety mechanisms in the vehicle are similar to most modern cars. These include traction control, stability control, airbags, adaptive cruise control, collision alerts, and more.
Power and Transmission
Power and Transmission
The engine is a 6.2-liter V8 generating 420 horsepower with a 6-speed transmission. According to Cadillac, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds. However, in my experience, I did not achieve that; it took me 8.2 seconds, and in another attempt, 7.2 seconds. I had to turn off traction control to hit 7.2 seconds.
Handling and Suspension
Handling and Suspension
This is one of the largest vehicles on the road. It features a robust steel chassis combined with a MagnaRide suspension system. The ride is smooth, but it can feel a bit shaky at times.
Braking
Braking
The braking system was excellent for the size of the vehicle. I tested the brakes from 100 to 0 and stopped in 2.9 seconds. However, I must say you need to press the brakes firmly.
Conclusion
Based on my experience, I enjoyed the vehicle. It makes you feel important, powerful, and safe. This is the best Escalade yet. It is more beautiful than its competitors, and its interior is elegant, although they compete in technology. Nevertheless, it is undoubtedly a strong competitor that will not go unnoticed.
