2014 Chevrolet Impala: The Distinguished Sedan from General Motors
Introduction to the 2014 Chevrolet Impala
The 2014 Chevrolet Impala is launched as the flagship sedan from General Motors. This model is larger and better than its predecessor, with prices starting just above those of the Malibu. Built on the same platform as the Cadillac XTS, the Impala now features front-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive. All models come equipped with a 3.6L V6 engine, delivering 305 horsepower paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that includes manual shifting options.
Exterior Design
At first glance, the Impala appears to be a completely new vehicle. Its larger contours and clearer lines give it a more elegant look. Since the car is exclusively sold in the United States and the Middle East, designers focused on certain elements more than others. The exterior features numerous metallic accents described as "art and sculpture," as stated by Matthew Noone, the director of exterior design for General Motors South America.
Interior Design
Inside, the designers have advanced the Chevrolet Impala with a new dashboard design, high-quality materials, and the MyLink entertainment system. The MyLink system includes an 8-inch touchscreen (available in LT and LTZ models) and offers functionalities such as connecting up to 10 devices via Bluetooth and managing 1,000 contacts, voice control, and video playback. There are also steering wheel controls for the entertainment system, climate control, navigation, and more. Additionally, it features a secret "valet box" that opens and closes using a code.
Performance and Acceleration
The car accelerates powerfully, reaching speeds of up to 210 km/h, and it maintains this speed even up to 219 km/h! The acceleration is impressive, even on winding roads. The brakes are excellent, and the cabin remains quiet. The electronic steering is precise and responsive at all speeds. The front shocks are carefully tuned with traditional dual-tube components, while the rear multi-link suspension efficiently absorbs road bumps. The hydraulic suspension smooths out the imperfections while remaining firm for sharp turns. The rear legroom is exceptionally spacious.
Drawbacks
The only downside we noticed is that many of the glossy surfaces can cause light reflections, which can be quite distracting. However, placing items like a tissue box can help mitigate these reflections. The rear design may remind you of the Lexus ES and IS.
Conclusion
In our opinion, the 2014 Impala is a solid vehicle. The attention to detail makes it a remarkable sedan. The base model LS is priced at 105,000 AED, while the LTZ model starts at 129,000 AED.
