2014 Chrysler 300C Review - A Luxurious Car with Exceptional Performance
History of the Chrysler 300C
The Chrysler 300C was first introduced in 1957, targeting the luxury market. Its goal was to provide a high-quality luxury vehicle at an affordable price for the American public. In 2004, Chrysler reintroduced the 300C, making significant changes. The 1957 model was stylish for its time, and the 2004 version featured two additional doors. With its E-Class foundation, it aimed to incorporate some European flair, indicating Chrysler's ambition for success in Europe. This leads us to the 2014 300C model review.
Elegance
The vehicle is massive, measuring 5 meters in length and 2 meters in width, undoubtedly appealing to fans of large cars. The 300C is manufactured in Detroit and has made appearances in various American music videos.
Exterior Appearance
Many observers might liken the car's design to that of Bentley or Rolls-Royce. I've heard this comparison frequently, including from my wife. Does this suggest that Chrysler is trying to emulate those prestigious brands? The 300C does bear a resemblance to Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and the S-Class.
Interior Materials and Quality
Chrysler has done an excellent job with the interior. The quality is high, featuring soft leather and dark wood in the model I tested. Earlier models from 2004 to 2012 were filled with plastic, but that’s not the case anymore. There are minor areas, like the armrest and some switches, that feel less premium. The seatback is slightly firm but remains comfortable.
Visibility and Space Inside the Cabin
The interior space is quite generous. Visibility is good, although the mirrors are a bit small, which is not a significant issue.
Interior Technology and Features
Chrysler has clearly updated the technology since the 2012 model. One major enhancement is the keyless entry feature. Without removing the key from your pocket, simply approach the vehicle and grasp the door handle to unlock it. Just sit down, press the brake, and push the button to start. When exiting, press the button, get out, close the door, and touch the door handle to lock it—it's that simple.
Entertainment Features
The 8.4-inch touchscreen may be the smartest infotainment system I've ever used. It features an intuitive touch interface with an excellent "Harman Kardon" sound system. The Uconnect system offers clear and user-friendly navigation, and it automatically recognizes your phone.
Safety Features
In addition to cruise control, the car is equipped with a blind-spot monitoring system. It features indicators on the side mirrors that alert you if there’s a vehicle in your blind spot. If you attempt to change lanes with a car present, it will provide both auditory and visual warnings.
Power and Transmission
With a power output of 363 horsepower and a 5.7-liter engine paired with a 5-speed transmission, the shifting is smooth, and acceleration is impressive. Although the acceleration from 0-100 km/h is rated at 5.6 seconds, our testing recorded it at 7.3 seconds!
Conclusion
The 300C surprised me. This model didn’t garner much attention in 2004, but numerous updates in 2012 improved its appeal. This car is not about aggression; it is built for comfort and cruising. I loved the car, my wife loved it, and it certainly caught attention on the road.
