2016 Chery Tiggo 3 Review
The Chery Tiggo 3 has moderate sales figures in the UAE and is a Chinese crossover that competes with models such as the Brilliance V5, Changan CS35, and Renault Duster. Launched in 2013, this vehicle emphasizes simplicity and affordability, allowing buyers to forgo luxury options to keep the price low.

Exterior Design
The Chery Tiggo 3 features sleek headlights paired with a hexagonal grille and LED lights, complemented by subtle chrome accents on the headlights and grille.
At the rear, the design resembles the second-generation Toyota RAV4, showcasing a well-crafted representation of what a four-wheel drive vehicle should look like. The 215/60 R17 wheels are well-suited to the vehicle's dimensions, measuring 4,420 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, and standing 1,670 mm tall.
Interior Design
The cabin is predominantly made of plastic, finished in a beige color with silver accents on the door handles, central control panel, and air conditioning vents. The red stitching on the steering wheel draws attention but does not compensate for the overall quality of the interior.
On the other hand, the large side mirrors and spacious windows significantly reduce blind spots. The wheelbase of 2,510 mm is slightly shorter than the Renault Duster's 2,673 mm, but there is ample space for four adults in the Chery.
Features and Safety
The Tiggo 3 is equipped with ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear disc brakes, providing linear braking force when the pedal is pressed, along with rapid heat dissipation and stable braking performance. It also features an anti-lock braking system and brake force distribution.
In terms of technology, the Chery Tiggo 3 is equipped with a commendable range of features for its price, including a sunroof, parking sensors, and audio controls on the steering wheel.

Driving Experience
The vehicle has a ground clearance of 190 mm, with approach and departure angles of 28 and 29 degrees, respectively, and is equipped with a CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.
The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine produces 136 horsepower at 5,750 RPM and 182 Nm of torque at 4,500 RPM.
While the steering is extremely precise, and the independent suspension provides excellent grip, the seven-speed CVT transmission offers a genuinely enjoyable driving experience at higher speeds.
Although it's described as an economical vehicle, the 55-liter fuel tank allows for a wide variance in consumption, sometimes reaching as low as 4.2 liters per 100 km and as high as 17 liters per 100 km. The difference is quite perplexing!
Conclusion
Priced at 45,000 AED, the Chery Tiggo 3 is the most affordable option among its competitors. While the vehicle is manufactured with a high degree of precision and quality, some of Chery's shortcomings can be overlooked, such as the poorly placed gear lever and handbrake. Overall, the 2016 Chery Tiggo 3 stands out as one of the few vehicles to learn from.
Pros
- Excellent air conditioning system
- USB connectivity
Cons
- Poor quality of interior materials
- Headlights stop functioning when the handbrake is engaged
