2016 Ford Figo: Specifications, Design, and Features
The 2016 Ford Figo is the smallest and most affordable car in the American brand's lineup. Targeting budget-conscious consumers, it competes with models like Kia Rio, Mazda2, and Peugeot 208. Can the Ford Figo hold its own in this competitive segment with its small engine and limited comfort features?
Main Features
| Engine | 1.5L / 4 cylinders |
| Transmission | 6-speed automatic |
| Power | 110 hp / 136 Nm torque |
| Top Speed | Not available |
| Price | 55,000 AED |
Exterior Design
Since its initial launch six years ago, the Ford Figo has continued from where its predecessor left off in the current second generation. The second generation features a hexagonal chrome grille and multiple contours throughout the car's body.
The overall design of the car reflects some elements from the Ford Focus, complemented by sleek headlights that enhance its aesthetic appeal along with clear lines running the length of the vehicle.
Interior Design
The entire cabin is constructed from hard plastic, highlighting a focus on cost-effectiveness in its design. However, silver accents and chrome rings have been added to break the monotony of plastic, indicating a clear potential for further improvements in design and material quality.
Features and Safety
Emphasizing simplicity in design, the Figo includes basic specifications such as:
- Traction control system
- Fog lights
- Power windows
- Radio system with four speakers and USB/AUX input
- Bluetooth connectivity
Driving Experience
Equipped with a 1.5L / 4-cylinder engine, it produces 110 hp and 136 Nm of torque. In comparison, the Kia Rio and Peugeot 208 generate 107 hp and 135 Nm of torque, and 120 hp and 160 Nm of torque, respectively.
It features a sport driving mode with a 6-speed automatic transmission, making it feel like a traditional manual rather than a fully automatic vehicle.
When driving at high speeds between 100-120 km/h, the RPM gauge stabilizes at around 3000, resulting in a fuel consumption rate of 10.4 liters per 100 km.
Conclusion
Priced at 55,000 AED, the Figo stands as the most expensive option among its competitors. However, its price guarantees a service interval of 60,000 km, which Peugeot can match, but that alone doesn't justify its higher cost.
At 49,900 AED, with a more powerful engine and the same service interval, the Renault Duster cannot be overlooked!
Pros
- Unique blue color
- Effective air conditioning that cools the cabin quickly
Cons
- Overpriced
- Automatic transmission could be improved
