2016 Nissan Juke Review: Fun Driving Experience and Outstanding Performance

2016 Nissan Juke

The 2016 Nissan Juke offers an enjoyable driving experience in the city, powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine that delivers 188 horsepower. It's available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, with the latter being an additional option. The Juke meets all your needs, boasting a trunk space of up to 354 liters and fuel consumption of 6 to 8 liters per 100 kilometers. With its stunning interior design and vibrant color options, it promises an exhilarating ride. Let’s explore what makes it so impressive.

Main Features

  • Engine: 1.6-liter Turbo
  • Transmission: New Xtronic/Tiptronic Transmission
  • Power: 188 horsepower / 240 Nm torque
  • Top Speed: 200 km/h
  • Price: AED 63,000 - 85,000

Car Design

The exterior design of the Juke may not appeal to everyone; the front headlights resemble the enemy of mankind, the mosquito. However, the rear end has an attractive appearance, with stylish wheels and a sporty design that gives it a striking look.

There are two exterior design options: one features black with yellow side mirrors and door handles, while the other offers red with white accents, perfectly matching the interior design.

Interior and Technology

Nissan has embraced a modern approach in the interior design by incorporating vibrant colors into the control unit, which is the first feature that catches the eye upon entering. I would have preferred a leather dashboard, as I find the colors somewhat uncomfortable up close. The seats are exceptional, crafted from premium leather with beautiful stitching that adds a sporty touch. Nissan has equipped the Juke with an excellent navigation and entertainment system, along with a proprietary Nissan connectivity feature that allows you to connect your phone wirelessly and play your favorite music.

However, the interior of the Juke is not particularly spacious; the rear seats may be impractical for tall passengers sitting in the front. The sunroof is delightful for winter use, but in summer, it could lead to sunburn. Regarding safety features, the car comes with six airbags—four frontal and two side airbags. Additionally, it includes an electronic stability system that activates the anti-lock braking system and traction control as needed, helping maintain straight-line stability and enhancing control.

Performance and Driving

I was surprised by the capabilities of this car with its 1.6-liter turbo engine, as it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. The steering is direct, providing a fantastic feel and light handling. All these features make it easy to drive and capable of navigating challenging situations. The Juke excels in driving performance and offers good balance; however, the seats are positioned quite high, which can be uncomfortable during turns. One downside I noticed is that the torque is weak at low speeds.

Driving the Juke is comfortable on rough roads, but when speeds exceed 40 km/h, it becomes less so. However, for the roads it was designed for, it is smooth and enjoyable.

Conclusion

In my opinion, the Juke is a solid car overall. It was built primarily for urban driving, featuring an engine powerful enough for city use, alongside modern interior design and luxurious seating with an effective navigation system. Overall, the Nissan Juke is a fantastic vehicle, and I thoroughly enjoyed driving it, rating it 4 out of 5.
