Launch of the 2017 Mercedes E-Class
Mercedes-Benz has officially launched the 2017 E-Class in the Middle East. According to Dirk Fetzer, Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing for Passenger Cars at Mercedes-Benz, the E-Class is the cornerstone of the company, setting new standards for executive vehicles. He emphasized that it will carry this legacy forward with updated comfort and safety features.
Exterior and Interior Design
The exterior design closely resembles that of the S-Class and C-Class, leading to a similarity among models akin to competitors like BMW and Audi. The E-Class features a 9-speed automatic transmission for improved fuel efficiency and offers an optional air suspension system for the new E-Class models.
Safety Features
The focus on the cabin of the E-Class has made it resemble the S-Class more than the C-Class, with some even claiming it looks better than the S-Class. A 12.3" display screen will debut in the E-Class, along with touch controls. Some of the safety mechanisms include:
- PRE-SAFE
- Driving Assistance
- Brake Assistance
- Drive Pilot for autonomous driving
