SUVs, especially compact ones, have become the best-selling vehicle type in this generation. This popularity has led luxury car manufacturers like Porsche to introduce their Macan alongside Land Rover's distinctive Evoque.
Today, we will explore what sets these two vehicles apart and determine which one excels over the other.
Exterior Design
Undoubtedly, the 2017 Porsche Macan retains its luxury roots, with an exterior design that showcases a striking presence and exquisite complexity. The Macan stands at a height of 1.6 meters, with a length of 4.7 meters and a width of 1.9 meters. In comparison, the Range Rover Evoque has a height of 1.67 meters, a length of 4.37 meters, and the same width of 1.9 meters.
Interior Design
Both vehicles come equipped with leather seats, an adjustable steering wheel, central locking, and electric steering. In addition to its stunning interior design, the Porsche Macan features a trip computer for easier navigation and has a fuel tank capacity of 500 liters. On the other hand, the British Range Rover Evoque boasts an 8-inch multifunction display, reading lights, a panoramic roof, and a larger fuel tank capacity of 575 liters. Both vehicles can comfortably accommodate five adults, but the Porsche offers a more traditional feel inside, compared to the modern design of the Range Rover Evoque.
Performance
The Evoque is powered by a 2.0-liter engine that produces 240 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 217 km/h. Despite its impressive features, the German Macan is equipped with the same engine size but delivers higher performance at 252 horsepower and a remarkable torque of 370 Nm, paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. It can reach a top speed of 229 km/h and accelerate to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, clearly establishing the Porsche Macan as superior in this category.
Verdict
The Range Rover Evoque is priced at AED 180,500, while its German competitor, the Porsche Macan, is priced at AED 185,100. With its luxurious design and superior performance, the Porsche Macan comes out on top, although the Evoque offers advanced navigation technology and ample space. Overall, if we consider the entirety of their features, the Porsche Macan stands out as the vehicle that encompasses the best attributes across the board.
