The QX50 is the first to adopt Infiniti's new VC-Turbo engine, or variable compression turbo engine. What does a variable compression engine mean? If you're in a hurry, this engine provides ample power, and if you're looking to save money and be environmentally friendly, it offers up to a 35% fuel efficiency improvement. The VC-Turbo engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which, while not favored by automotive journalists, is acceptable for car owners.
Design
In terms of design, the QX50 showcases elements similar to its larger sibling, the QX80, which Infiniti refers to as "Powerful Elegance design." However, I don't entirely agree with this marketing term, despite the elegant aesthetics that feature sharp lines and curves that impart an aggressive touch, reminiscent of powerful sports cars.
Interior Design
I was genuinely impressed with the car's interior design. I appreciate the quality of materials used, especially in a high-end vehicle, along with the generous space and user-friendly features. When driving the higher trim (AED 245,250), you will notice the luxurious leather touch with intentional imperfections in the stitching that enhance the overall design aesthetic. Despite not being a large vehicle, the interior provides ample space for five passengers, and seating is exceptionally comfortable, especially with four occupants. To enhance comfort, the rear seats slide for additional legroom.
The 2019 Infiniti QX50 comes equipped with two screens that control all functions within the vehicle. Initially, I thought using them would be confusing and a bit complex, but my experience proved otherwise. The control buttons for both the driver and passenger are conveniently placed for easy access.
