Driving Experience of the 2019 Renault Megane RS
Introduction
Today, I'm excited to share my experience with one of the cars I've been eagerly waiting to test: the 2019 Renault Megane RS. Since attending its launch event and driving it at the Dubai Autodrome in November 2018, my anticipation has only grown. Let’s dive deeper into what makes this sporty hatchback stand out.
Why the Excitement?
The primary reason for my enthusiasm about the Renault Megane RS is that it offers enthusiasts a fantastic option in the sporty hatchback category, which has seen limited competition. This model combines the practicality needed in hatchbacks with the thrill of driving all in one package.
Renault Sport Division
With the nameplate featuring "RS," you can be assured that this car belongs to the Renault Sport division, the performance arm of Renault responsible for all their racing vehicles, including those in Formula One.
Exterior Design

One of the standout features of the Megane RS is its design, which significantly differentiates it from the standard Megane hatchback and even the Megane GT. Its striking orange color grabs attention on the road, making it impossible to overlook.
Exterior Design Features
- RS vision headlights.
- LED lights with C-shaped daytime running lights.
- Splitter inspired by Formula One cars.
- Effective cooling and ventilation openings for Brembo brakes.
- 19-inch wheels with wider wheel arches.
Interior Design

Upon entering the cabin, you’ll quickly recognize a design similar to most Renault vehicles. However, the Megane RS offers a unique ambiance with carbon fiber accents, red stitching throughout the interior, and sporty "bucket seats" covered in Alcantara.
Technological Specifications

The Megane RS is packed with features, including the Renault R-Link 2 system equipped with a distinctive 7-inch vertical touchscreen.
Driving Experience

Powered by a 1.8-liter turbo engine with front-wheel drive, the Renault Megane RS delivers an impressive 280 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque to the front wheels.
Final Verdict

After this driving experience, I believe there is now a strong contender for the title of Queen of sporty hatchbacks, especially with the Megane RS's starting price of AED 119,000 in the UAE market.
