Introduction

This is the Honda Accord, a car that many of us know well, even after undergoing some subtle design changes. Let's take a look at what has changed, but first, let's discover if the Accord still remains one of the best options compared to cars like the Mazda 6, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry. Let's get started!

Driving Experience

Honda Accord

It’s worth noting that Honda is the only Japanese manufacturer in this category bold enough to phase out its naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharged units. The 2.0-liter turbo engine we’re discussing in this review replaces the previous 3.5-liter V6 engine, delivering a robust 247 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque.

Despite differing opinions, I have always felt that the Accord is one of the best cars to drive in its class for several reasons. When driven calmly, it is a quiet, fuel-efficient, and extremely comfortable vehicle. However, press down hard on the accelerator, and you'll find enough power to push you back into your seat, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds—an impressive figure for a family sedan.

Honda Accord

As this is the model with the 2.0-liter engine, it features a 10-speed automatic transmission that can be controlled via paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. It also comes with 3 driving modes: Sport, Normal, and Eco, along with a remarkable array of safety and autonomous driving technologies.

The Accord adopts the Honda Sensing system, which incorporates some of the best autonomous driving technologies available at this price point. The combination of adaptive cruise control, low-speed follow, collision mitigation braking, and lane-keeping assist means that not only does the Accord excel on the highway, but it can also handle traffic, stay centered in its lane, and even navigate minor turns without driver intervention, which is impressive.

Interior Design

Honda Accord Back Seats

When it comes to the interior, the Accord boasts one of the most attractive cabins in its class. It is truly spacious, highlighted by:

  • A sleek dashboard
  • Button shifters instead of a traditional gear lever
  • Aluminum pedals for the accelerator and brakes
  • Carbon fiber accents on the dashboard and door panels

In the rear, there’s ample space, even if it may not appear so from the outside due to the sloping roofline. The legroom is notably generous, along with rear air conditioning vents, cup holders, and USB charging ports.

Features

Honda Accord Infotainment Screen

As this is the fully loaded version, the vehicle comes with an extensive list of features:

  • Remote engine start
  • Sunroof
  • Heads-up display
  • Memory seats with heating and cooling
  • Honda's Lane Watch safety system
  • Wireless charger

The infotainment screen measures 8 inches and includes buttons and knobs for controlling essential functions such as volume and tuning. What makes it stand out is its compatibility with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as built-in maps from Garmin.

Exterior Design

Honda Accord

New for 2021 is the stunning Sonic Gray color, and the exterior design changes include:

  • A redesigned front bumper and grille for a sharper look
  • A new set of 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Black exterior accents on the mirrors and wing

Conclusion

Honda Accord

Priced at 139,900 AED, the Honda Accord is the most expensive among its Japanese competitors, but there’s a good reason for that. It’s newer than the Mazda 6, offers a better driving experience than the Nissan Altima, and provides a more inviting interior than the Toyota Camry. So, what do you think? Is the 139,900 AED price tag justified?
