Introduction

Hyundai Motor has unveiled more details about the 2021 Sonata N Line, presenting a completely new design that adds excitement and appeal to the mid-size sedan category.

Design and Structure of the Sonata N Line

The Sonata N Line is designed to be a distinctive entry point into Hyundai's high-performance "N" brand, characterized by its advanced design and robust performance upgrades. The "N Line" model expands the Sonata lineup from Hyundai, following the introduction of the new Sonata and Sonata Hybrid in 2019, catering to a broad customer base.

Official Statements

During the unveiling of the new vehicle, Bang Sun Jeong, Vice President and Head of Operations for the Middle East and Africa, stated:

"The Hyundai Sonata has garnered a wide base of driving enthusiasts and customers by offering a range of reliable and fuel-efficient models with attractive designs, both in fuel-based and hybrid vehicles. Now, the 2021 Sonata N Line joins this remarkable lineup to fulfill the aspirations of leading drivers seeking dynamic performance."

Mechanical Performance

The mechanical performance of the Sonata N Line supports the sporty appearance of the sedan, featuring a 2.5-liter Smartstream GDi turbocharged engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (N DCT) for driving enthusiasts. This engine produces 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, making the Sonata N Line the most powerful Sonata model ever launched by Hyundai.

Performance Enhancements

The addition of a turbocharger, a different cylinder head, and unique internal components have significantly improved its performance compared to the standard Sonata's 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 horsepower, or the optional 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower.

Torque and Gear Shifts

The Sonata N Line also boasts substantial low and mid-range torque, allowing the engine to pull strongly all the way to its redline, while the N DCT provides clear and precise shifts.

Performance Parts and Custom Options

Performance parts from the N Performance line are currently available in Korea, with plans to be offered in the region for those looking to customize their Hyundai N Line models to suit their preferences. These new vehicle parts provide a more dynamic driving experience that goes beyond the base model, allowing customers to enjoy an enhanced driving experience with the N brand.
