The 2025 GMC Terrain marks a significant update for GMC's entry-level SUV, blending new technology, design, and functionality while retaining some of the familiar elements that have made it popular.
Bold New Design with Truck-Inspired Styling
The all-new Terrain takes a step forward in its design, featuring a more truck-inspired boxy look reminiscent of the first-generation model. This new aesthetic includes:
- A completely redesigned front end with a larger rectangular grille
- Sharper edges and more angular lines for a more aggressive stance
- C-shaped LED running lights retained
- A forward slant on the C-pillar, similar to the Chevrolet Equinox
- A refreshed rear end with straighter lines and smaller C-shaped tail lights
- Vertically-oriented reflectors and a new two-tone roof option highlighting the floating roof motif

Interior Overhaul with Cutting-Edge Technology
Inside, the 2025 Terrain undergoes a transformation. The most notable change is:
- A massive 15-inch vertical digital touchscreen
- An 11-inch digital instrument cluster, standard across all trims
- Integration of Google built-in software
- Support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- A 5G Wi-Fi hotspot
The new Terrain also replaces the previous push-button shifter with a more traditional column-mounted lever for easier gear changes.

- A heated steering wheel
- Heated front seats
- Adaptive cruise control
The Terrain introduces advanced driver-assistance systems like:
- Bicycle and pedestrian detection
- Intersection automated braking
- Steering assist for blind-spot avoidance
The interior space has been slightly increased, providing more headroom and front-seat legroom to enhance overall comfort.
Powertrain and Performance Updates
Under the hood, the 2025 Terrain continues with the familiar turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Key updates include:
- A new eight-speed automatic transmission replacing the previous nine-speed unit
- An all-wheel-drive variant available at launch with a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds
- A front-wheel-drive version set to launch later, featuring a continuously variable transmission and reduced torque output of 184 pound-feet
