Audi has launched the sixth generation of its A6 model in the form of the 2026 A6 Avant—a luxurious wagon that combines contemporary design with cutting-edge technology.
Design and Measures
The new A6 Avant boasts a clean and contemporary look, with a large front grille and angular lines that add to its sophisticated look. Coming in at 196.4 inches in length, it is 2.3 inches longer than the previous model.
The wheelbase is almost identical at 115.2 inches, with the width coming in just below 74 inches without mirrors. What is significant here is that the A6 Avant has a drag coefficient of 0.25, the lowest for any combustion-engined wagon that Audi has ever made.
A pretty interesting addition by Audi is that customers who choose 19-inch or larger wheels will receive noise absorbers with foam rings to minimize the air vibration inside the tire. That does sound very high-class.
Powertrain Options
The A6 Avant is arriving with three engines: turbocharged 2.0-liter, 2.0 TDI with mild-hybrid technology and, if you want to get sporty, then 3.0-liter V-6 with 48V tech producing 362 hp and 406 lb-ft,
Interior Features
Inside, the A6 Avant provides what appears to be the new Audi-cabin with 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, 11.9-inch digital driver's display and *that* optional 10.9-inch passenger screen which has polarized opinion.
Audi has also improved sound insulation by 30% over the outgoing model, with tighter door and window seals and optional acoustic glazing for rear doors. Specially developed engine mounts and transmission mounts, as well as some adjustments to the dual-clutch automatic transmission, also dampen noises and vibrations.
Although the A6 Avant will be launching in Europe, the sedan version is scheduled to launch in a few months' time, followed by other markets. Details of the pricing and specifications will be announced nearer the respective launch dates.
