Jeep gives sneak peek into all-new Cherokee

Jeep is preparing to relaunch its midsize Cherokee later this year, and early spy shots give a clear sense of where the brand is heading. The 2026 Cherokee returns with a refreshed, boxier silhouette, a next-gen cabin layout, and the promise of hybrid power.
A Stranger-Looking Jeep With Familiar DNA
Gone is the curvy design of the 2023 model. Instead, the new Cherokee presents a bolder, upright front fascia that mirrors the all-electric Recon 4xe. You can already spot Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille—taller and more prominent than before—while the headlamps, wrapped within sharper LED sections, give it a rugged, purposeful presence.
The rear has been revealed on Instagram by a few car spotting accounts. The pics reveal a design that remains thick and squared-off, with taillights tied together by piano-black trim framing the license plate area.
This design shift is deliberate. The Cherokee is being positioned deeper between the compact Compass and the larger Grand Cherokee, offering a muscular stance without stepping on their toes. CEO Bob Broderdorf recently stressed that this model will bring more content, creativity, and true Jeep capability to the mainstream SUV market.

Inside: From Cluttered to Clean
Spy shots of the interior on the internet reveal a more modern cabin, echoing the layout of the upscale Wagoneer S EV. A wide digital instrument cluster meets a tilted central touchscreen sitting atop touch-sensitive controls offering easier access to climate settings and audio volume without diving into multiple menus.
Just below, a chunky rotary dial replaces the gear shifter, paired with toggles for terrain and drive modes providing a tactile yet streamlined experience.
Hybrid Power Takes the Wheel (For Now)
Jeep has confirmed that the new Cherokee will launch with a hybrid powertrain built on the adaptable STLA-Large platform. This aligns with rising market demand for fuel-efficient yet capable SUVs.
Although combustion and electric-only versions are expected later, the focus at launch is a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid. A PHEV or EV could follow once Jeep fully taps into the STLA-Large's multi-energy potential.
What Comes Next and Why It Matters
Production is expected to begin in late 2025, with a debut likely before the end of the year.
