The Abu Dhabi Police announced that in September, drivers have the chance to win the title of "Driver of the Month" by participating in a project aimed at rewarding safe drivers.
Details of the Initiative
The Smart Driver initiative is the first of its kind that will monitor driving behaviors across Abu Dhabi through a mobile application. This application connects to a database to upload trip information.
Awards for Outstanding Drivers
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi will award the best driver a prize worth 10,000 AED.
Official Statements
Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Abu Dhabi Patrol and Traffic Police, stated that the Smart Driver application is expected to revolutionize road safety, encouraging all drivers in the emirate to take their responsibilities towards traffic seriously and improve their driving skills.
He explained that drivers will now be able to identify their driving weaknesses, and that the police have the flexibility to adjust their assessments as needed.
