Official Launch of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA
Today at the Balocco test track, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA was revealed, alongside its more aggressive sibling, the GTAm. The Giulia GTA pays homage to the legendary model first introduced in 1965, marking a significant milestone in the brand's history.
A Return to Roots
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA represents a genuine return to the brand's roots, which was established 111 years ago, embracing the worlds of performance and touring cars.
Experiences at the Balocco Track
It was fitting for the official launch to take place at the historic Balocco Proving Ground in Vercelli, where the original Giulia Sprint GTA was developed in the 1960s. This 60-year-old venue is where all Alfa Romeo vehicles are tested and developed.
At this very location, journalists had the opportunity to test the new Alfa Romeo supercar and later enjoyed its performance on a scenic route that stretched from the Vercelli countryside to Ivrea Moren and Lago di Viverone in the foothills of the Alps.
Performance Specifications
The Giulia GTA is distinguished by its aesthetic and practical specifications, confirming that it is not only visually stunning but also a high-performance vehicle derived from the exceptional Giulia Quadrifoglio.
- Weight reduction of 100 kg compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio.
- Alfa Romeo 2.9L twin-turbo V6 engine.
- Power output of 540 horsepower.
- Impressive performance with Launch Mode.
- Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.
Aerodynamic Enhancements
Alfa Romeo engineers have significantly improved aerodynamic dynamics, control, and weight by extensively utilizing carbon fiber and composite materials. This technical expertise comes directly from the world of Formula 1, thanks to collaboration with Sauber Engineering.
Design Features
The vehicle boasts several advanced design features, including:
- New adjustable rear bumper with four settings in the GTAm.
- Active front splitter that can be extended for track use.
- Central exhaust system by "Akrapovič" made from titanium.
- 20-inch center-lock wheels.
- Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Interior of the Car
The interior features full Alcantara upholstery on the dashboard, door panels, glove box, side pillars, and seat stitching. Alcantara is particularly prominent in the GTAm version, where the rear seats have been removed to create space for a fully upholstered "tub" designed to hold helmets and a fire extinguisher.
Interior Design
In the new GTAm, the interior design differs slightly, featuring a roll bar and lacking door coverings, with the front doors opening via "pull rings" instead of handles, all in the same colors as the six-point SABELT harnesses.
Conclusion
The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA combines captivating design with stunning performance, making it an excellent choice for enthusiasts of high-performance luxury cars.
