2016 Audi R8 Rendered

Audi revolutionized the supercar market in 2007 by presenting to the world a more affordable everyday supercar – the R8. This new Audi matched the performance of a 911 and had the styling of a mid-engine supercar while priced at around half of a regular Ferrari or Lamborghini. These stats resulted in instant success and consumers flocked to get their hands on this affordable German supercar.

But that was 7 years back and Audi knows it’s time for a refresh. So, after leaking prototypes being tested on the Nurburgring, the actual car is on its way to be unveiled by end of next year. Since that day is a bit far off, Rm.Design rendered an image of what the new R8 might look like. As per the image, the new R8 takes a lot of design cues from the TT and it is more of an evolution rather than a revolution.

Coming to the powertrains, the new R8 is rumored to have a battery-powered version – most likely hybrid – to rival the i8. But, the 5.2 liter V10 is expected to be carried over to the new gen. Stay tuned for more updates.
