2016 Bentley SUV: Is it worth the price?

Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on Jul 7, 2014

Bentley vehicles are never cheap. So, when the luxury brand plans to add an SUV to their lineup, it is sort of a landmark moment. Now, it is confirmed by the Bentley officials that the SUV will cost over 130,000 pounds. Yikes! That’s more than a Range Rover, Cayenne and G-Wagen. It certainly looks like Bentley does not believe in the current trends of keeping the prices down in this competitive market.

Surprising as it may seem, it still isn’t amazing as the fact that the earlier teaser of the SUV was heavily criticized for its design; so much so that Bentley had to redesign the car to please everyone. And yet, they kept the price tag high even after negative reviews. Sure, the car will be a Bentley and it will have all the features and luxuries money can buy but the question remains: are people going to pay that kind of premium?

Bentley officials say it is going to be the costliest SUV while still being cheaper than the Mulsanne as it is their flagship model. So this puts the SUV price between 130,000 and 230,000 pounds.

The upside, well, the car is designed to reach speeds of 200 mph. There will be 2 powertrain options – a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 and 6-liter W12. Moreover, there will be a hybrid option available in 2017. Stay tuned for updates.
