2016 Future Mobility Conference Overview

The Future Mobility Conference, held under the Patronage of H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin-Fahad, is a conference that aims to bring automotive manufacturers, visionary leaders, and technology connoisseurs under one roof.
In its second iteration, it attracted crowds from across the globe and saw brands such as BMW, Lexus, Toyota, and Volkswagen display products that carry the automotive industry forward and aid in the forming of the fourth industrial revolution.
Part of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to have 25% of transportation automatized by the year 2030, what follows is a list of vehicles that are at the forefront of innovation.
BMW i3
Futuristic without adopting the pod-esque exterior that has become synonymous with technologically advanced vehicles, the i3 is BMW’s first zero emissions mass-produced vehicle. Featuring carbon-fiber reinforced polymers and a 33-kWH battery pack, the i3 offers a New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) range of up to 300 kilometers.
Lexus GS Hybrid
With subtle aesthetic changes differentiating the GS Hybrid from the standard vehicle, its understated styling requires keen eyed enthusiasts to tell it apart from its sibling. Powered in combination by an electric motor and a conventional engine, horsepower is rated at an impressive 338 while fuel economy is at an astonishing low 6.9 liters / 100 km.
Nerve Street Racer
Designed by Nerve, a cutting-edge tech company, the Street Racer MC is no ordinary bike. Accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h in 1.5 seconds and bearing a top speed of 300 km/h, not only is it fast but driverless too!
Toyota Mirai
Japanese for Future, the Toyota Mirai is a Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) that was unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and features an output power density of 3.0 kW/L. With two 70 MPa high-pressure hydrogen tanks, the Mirai delivers an approximate range of 700 km.
Volkswagen Golf GTE
A standard Golf wrapped in eye-catching livery, the GTE is a Plug-In Hybrid that houses a 204-horsepower engine that sips just 1.5 liters / 100 km. Do the math and that equates to a whopping 939 kilometers per tank of fuel!
