2017 Ford F-150 Raptor to welcome six drive modes

The Ford F-150 Raptor is an off-roader’s ultimate weapon. Equipped with the right tools to tackle the trickiest of situations, it has earned its reputation off the beaten path.

With the Ford F-150 currently in its thirteenth generation of production, the all-new Raptor has been the talk of off-road communities around the globe since it made an appearance at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

Drive modes, not an entirely new concept to the segment, allow for drivers to alter variables such as suspension firmness, steering weight, throttle response and transmission shifting patterns, to suit individual needs and terrains.

But in addition to its 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is also believed to feature six different drive modes to suit all conditions.

Normal – For regular driving in and around the city.

Sport – Improves throttle response and allows for higher revs to be achieved before shifting into the next gear.

Weather – Allows for better traction in snow or on ice-covered roads.

Mud / Sand – Catered for crossing rough off-road sections.

Baja – Limits the intervention of the traction control system for high-speed desert runs.

Rock Crawl – Engages 4-Low for extreme low-end power and deactivates all electronic aids.

Now all that’s left, is to get behind the wheel of one, really…
