The Land Rover Discovery is a nameplate that has been a part of the British manufacturer’s line-up since 1989 and one that rivals the likes of the Japanese Lexus GX and German Volkswagen Touareg. Ingenuity, has been at the core of the Discovery range for the past 27 years and plays a vital role in the DNA of the all-new, fifth-generation model.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer said: “All-New Discovery redefines the large SUV. Land Rover’s design and engineering teams have revolutionized the Discovery DNA to create a highly desirable, extremely versatile and hugely capable premium SUV. We truly believe the result is a radical departure in design that will introduce the Discovery Family to a new, wider customer base.”

Aesthetically, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery remains true to the Discovery Vision Concept previewed at the 2014 New York Auto Show. The revolutionary design lends the all-new model a dynamic appearance, while paying homage but not restricting itself to its predecessors, with iconic cues such as a stepped roofline.

The cabin, in distinctive Brit flair, is finished in a plethora of luxurious materials including Windsor leather upholstery and natural oak veneers. Though similar to the Discovery Sport, it is an interior that appeals to multiple senses.

The limited-run ‘First Edition’ model showcases the very best of the All-New Discovery. Only 2,400 examples will be made available globally with exclusive features including unique etched map detailing on the aluminum trim for the doors and facia, unique badges, bold color choices and a comprehensive list of standard equipment.

As for the powertrain, the all-new Discovery is powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that churns out 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, while being mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Familiar, but a phenomenal powertrain nonetheless.
