The Mazda CX3, a subcompact crossover SUV that competes with the Renault Captur (see prices and specs) and Nissan Juke (see prices and specs), is set to make its Middle Eastern debut in the first quarter of 2017. Revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the CX3 shares its platform with the Mazda2 (see prices and specs) and comes across as a handsome offering from the Japanese brand.

Following the marque’s KODO (Soul of Motion) design philosophy, the swooping contours express energy and movement, even at a complete standstill. Sleek headlamps and a sizeable grille up front, lend the CX3 a rather intimidating stance.

Inside, the simplistic cabin is bedecked with faux carbon fiber and tri-color leather that covers everything from the seats and door panels to the center console and gear shifter. The instrument cluster features futuristic analogue dials and a full-color display.

Symmetrically placed to align with the driver, the aluminum pedals in the footwell link to a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that directs 146 horsepower and 198 Nm of torque through a 6-speed automatic transmission, to either a Front-Wheel-Drive or an All-Wheel-Drive layout.

Bearing a clear power and stylistic advantage over its rivals, the Mazda CX3 is one crossover we’re definitely looking forward to!
