Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on Mar 29, 2016

Last year, Volvo dropped a bomb in the mid-size luxury segment. They launched the all-new XC90 for the world. And, from the first glance it looked like a winner because it revolutionized our thoughts and made us excited about the possibilities of the future. The Volvo XC90 came with a brand new design language for Volvo which they are now adopting for the Volvo S90 sedan as well as the Volvo V90 estate. That’s not all; the XC90 platform also meant new engine specs and Volvo being Volvo, managed to squeeze out various powertrains from the same 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine. So, this way the XC90 achieves great fuel economy.

Moreover, the interior of this SUV is on another level. The clean dash with a huge iPad-like touch screen with the most user friendly interface blew everyone away. This car’s technology will make any geek go wow. And now, we come to our headline. It is because the people from Volvo have announced that all these sweet interior goodies can be further improved with the XC90 Excellence trim. Yes, you have read it right, there is a more premium trim now in the list and this sort of luxury doesn’t come cheap at all. No sir, the XC90 Excellence package will cost you more than hundred-thousand US dollars. To be precise, it will cost you $105,895 in the US. Comparatively, the base model costs only forty-five-thousand US dollars.

So what do you get for such a whopping increase in amount? Well, for starters, the second row of seats is thrown away and instead what you get are two reclining seats with heating/cooling and massage functionality. Moreover, you get the T8 engine which is basically a hybrid 2.0 liter engine producing 400 BHP. Also, there are Bower & Wilkins speakers, refrigerator  and some matte-finish wood trimmings. Lastly, you will have the folding tables, TV screens and side bolstering in the headrest for your pleasure.
