The 2018 Hyundai IONIQ is an eco-friendly family of hatchbacks which come in three distinct flavors – Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and EV. The ones hitting the shores of the UAE soon will be the standard hybrid and the all-electric models.

The exterior styling of the 2018 Hyundai IONIQ is smooth and unfussy for the most part. The hybrid version gets a rather large front grille, with a bumper design that flows right into the sleek headlamps. From the side, up to the rear, the design theme seems to echo the styling of a coupe, and it looks rather nice. Unlike the controversial and disproportionate exterior of the Toyota Prius, the Hyundai IONIQ's flowy design is inoffensive and, as it turns out, surprisingly great at channeling airflow and reducing drag. The rear fascia adds some character as well, along with its funky spoiler and taillight styling.

The cabin of the 2018 Hyundai IONIQ is pleasantly a good place to be in. The materials may not be top-drawer stuff, but the fit and finish is decent enough. Hyundai also offers a laundry list of comfort, convenience, and safety features as standard on the new IONIQ.

Power for the 2018 Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid comes from a combination of a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine, and 32kW electric motor. The total combined output for the Ioniq Hybrid is 139 HP and 265 Nm of torque, while 0-100 km/h takes a rather lethargic 9 seconds, and top speed is limited to 185 km/h. The 2018 Hyundai IONIQ EV comes packing a 28kWh lithium-polymer battery, and a max range of 250 kilometers. The IONIQ EV is good for 120 horses and 295 Nm of torque, which equates to a top speed of 165 km/h.
