2018 Lincoln Navigator Concept revealed

Lincoln brand has been here for almost 100 years. The company which started in 1917 joined Ford in 1922 and since has been termed as the premium cousin of Ford. The brand, which has created iconic automobiles including the US President’s limousine, since 2000s, has been not present in the market. Well, that would be a bit harsh to say but Lincoln is a brand that’s not very well known here. People are willing to buy Ford vehicles but not Lincoln. It could be due to the fact that there is not much advertising done for the brand. Also, the resale value could be a big factor in making decisions. Or it could be simply the fact that they don’t care about Lincoln.

As people say first impressions matter, Lincoln is trying to pursue that ideology by making noise at car shows. First, it was the all-new Lincoln Continental revelation last year and this year it is a very futuristic take on – which could be – the next Lincoln Navigator. Yes, Lincoln has finally decided to do something about their legendary SUV. Because, the previous one was way too old already when it came out and couldn’t bear the test of time. I remember the brand new Lincoln Navigator being sold for 125k AED once upon a time. So, I knew something is wrong with the brand image.

Well, hopefully all those criticism will be put to rest once the new Navigator comes out and if it is any bit like the concept, it has the potential to wow the consumers. Coming to the car itself, the most obvious change in the look are the gull-wing doors and the cascading side steps to enter the cabin like a private jet. Let’s just straight away say that these doors won’t be in the production model. The production model, however, will definitely have the looks of the Continental. This means the elegant front mesh grille and lights and the 20” turbine wheels will be part of the Navigator too. So, this means the MKX and the MKC styling is already outdated. The interior will have an intercom to enable communication between different rows of seats – that’s some futuristic stuff right there. Moreover, the SUV will be powered by the twin-turbo V6 that will produce about 400 BHP like the one found in the Lincoln Continental. No further details have been released so we will have to wait and watch.
