2018 Mercedes Benz S Class Unveiled In The UAE

The Mercedes Benz S Class has always been in a league of its own, setting industry benchmarks and pioneering technologies for the modern era. Heralded as the best car in the world, the arrival of the 2018 model was celebrated at Manarat Al Sadiqat in an evening of sheer elegance with VIP customers, media representatives, and company officials from across the region.
Experiential zones were scattered around the foyer to immerse visitors in a virtual test drive and unique features of the refreshed S Class, while hallways were bedecked with interesting facts and iconic models of yesteryear. Unveiled following a spectacular light and sound show, and in the presence of representatives from Gargash Enterprises and Al Fahim Group, the German sedan is well equipped to continue leading the segment.

Taking autonomous driving to an all-new level, the 2018 Mercedes Benz S Class features improved driver assistance systems and substantially expanded functionality that demonstrates the latest automotive technology. Intelligence is further matched with world-first wellness features that include in-seat massage options, temperature control, cabin climate control, and mood enhancing light and sound options.
Along with technologies such as Active Steer Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Pre-Safe Sound, which debuted in the all-new E-Class, the new S Class is armed with Road Surface Scan and CURVE, the former which detects bumps and adjusts the suspension with the assistance of a stereo camera, and the latter which tilts the body up to 2.65 degrees to reduce centrifugal forces felt by passengers.
Commenting on the launch, Lennart Mueller-Teut, Head of Marketing and Communications, Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East, said: “Throughout its lifetime the Mercedes-Benz S Class has been at the pinnacle of automotive engineering and an undisputed status symbol around the world. We are delighted to demonstrate why the new S Class really is the best of the best.”

In addition to subtle alterations in the interior and exterior design, the S Class welcomes an all-new V8 engine that is believed to be one of the most fuel-efficient engines on the market. With 469 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, the new bi-turbo engine that graces the S 560 is believed to consume ten percent less fuel than its predecessor.
It is outshined, however, by none other than the S 63 4MATIC+, which generates 612 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, to hit 100 km/h in a staggering 3.5-seconds. The halo model in the S Class line-up, the Maybach S 650, produces 630 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque from its 6.0-liter V12 engine.
The GCC will see the availability of numerous versions, the 2018 Mercedes Benz S 450, S 560, S 560 4MATIC, S 63 4MATIC+, S 65, and S 650 Maybach, with prices ranging from AED 405,000 to AED 770,000.
