Meanwhile, the Honda CR V, fresh from a full redesign, is aiming to hold on to its title as one of the gold standards in this class. The exterior design of the Tiguan is different and rather refreshing. While some would think it is a little drab, for us it is still a very attractive design that prioritizes functionality over everything else. Interior
Just like in the exterior department, the discrepancy in generations becomes the difference maker in this comparison. The Tiguan still carries over its no-nonsense approach in interior design. The seats are comfortable, the electronics are excellent, and ergonomics in general is on-point. Probably its biggest weakness is the lack of legroom at the rear seats and trunk space. As for the CR V, it has just about everything that you can want in a compact SUV. It has features and electronics that is at par with the times, it has incredible luggage space, seats are comfortable, and headroom and legroom are excellent.
Performance
The Volkswagen Tiguan is available in 2 engine variants, the 1.4 liter TSI engine with a max output of 150 horsepower, and a 2.0 turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces a max of 180 horsepower. Regardless of engine choice, you’re in for a treat with its smooth 6-speed automatic gearbox and a suspension that rides smoothly yet allows for nimble cornering. The CR V is available with only one engine option: a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 184 horsepower. Improved underpinnings are the main reason behind the CR V’s revitalized cornering ability.

Verdict
To sum everything up, the 2017 Honda CR V wins this matchup relatively easily. The new model basically geared the CR V to years of relevance moving forward. However, it should face a stiffer challenge once the Tiguan ages and sees an inevitable fall in price.
