2020 Nissan Patrol leaked before global debut

The Nissan Patrol is a pretty big deal in the Middle East and the GCC specifically. To put a number on its popularity, it is the second most searched car online, falling just behind its biggest rival the Toyota Land Cruiser. Over the past few years, the two Japanese SUVs have been clashing horns quite intensely, but the Patrol seems to have won the popularity contest, judging by the numbers seen on the roads, that is.

Following a rendering leaked by a Russian automotive portal last month, images of the 2020 Nissan Patrol have leaked online and dare we say, the Russians weren’t far off the mark. Despite the current generation model being in production since 2010, Nissan has opted to give its flagship SUV a mid-life refresh as opposed to introducing an all-new model.

What we get then is a refreshed Patrol with a bigger and bolder front-end that is straighter and more upright with a more intimidating grille and redesigned headlamps. At the back, there’s wider tail-lights, sharper lines, and plenty of chrome reminding us of the Patrol’s well-to-do cousin, the Infiniti QX80.

On the inside, not much seems to have changed, bar the introduction of two big screens dominating the center console. The quality of materials and fit and finish seem to be as good as they have always been. The tan (borderline red) interior hue does seem like a new addition, however, this could simply be down to the bright lighting.

As for engine specifications, we doubt there have been any alterations made. We expect the 2020 Patrol to be armed with its tried and tested 5.7-liter V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower, 560 Nm of torque, and pushes it all through a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Stay tuned for more details as they are released.
