2020 Toyota Corolla launched in the UAE

Posted by Zaran Tarapore on Jun 20, 2019

Al-Futtaim Toyota, the official importer-dealer for Toyota vehicles in the UAE, launched the all-new Corolla at a private gathering earlier this week. The new Corolla not only sports a striking new avatar but also welcomes a hybrid electric powertrain for the first time in the UAE. A total of three engine options are available, with prices ranging from AED 71,900 to AED 95,900.

Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota, said, “The all-new 2020 Corolla is the most radical rethink of the iconic nameplate yet. In addition to the petrol variant, customers will now also have a Hybrid Electric option, thereby enhancing the appeal of the Corolla badge while answering an increasing need for clean motoring in the UAE.”

The smallest and most affordable option, the 1.6-liter engine, produces 121 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque. The larger 2.0-liter unit bumps figures up to 168 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque, while the hybrid electric 1.8-liter engine produces a combined output of 167.5 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. All three engines are mated to a CVT transmission and channel their power to the front wheels.

On the inside, the cabin is accentuated with an extensive range of features, which vary based on the trim level. Occupants benefit from rear AC vents, a one-touch moonroof, a 4.2 or seven-inch colour multi-information display (MID) in the cluster gauge, seven-inch touch-screen multimedia infotainment display, reversing camera, cruise control, six-speaker sound system, multi-adjustable power driver seat, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
