2021 Mercedes Maybach S Class Is For Those In Search Of Unmatched Luxury

Since its market launch in 2015, approximately 60,000 examples of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class have been delivered worldwide and today the German automaker makes a bold statement to continue its success story with an all-new model. Longer, wider, and indefinitely more luxurious than the outgoing model, the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is set for its Middle East debut with customers set to receive their cars in August 2021.

With a wheelbase that is 18cm longer than the outgoing model, rear passenger space remains unmatched. To enhance the sense of quietness and luxury within the cabin, there’s also an “active noise compensation” system that produces counter-phased audio signals to cancel road noise before it is heard by occupants. Twin executive seats that offer a new massage function for your calves are all part of the standard equipment, along with individual adjustments for the backrest and leg rest for a comfortable recline.

Depending on the market, customers will get to choose between two engine options: a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that makes 496 horsepower and has a 48-volt mild-hybrid system or a V-12 powered S650 that will continue to use the twin-turbo 6.0-liter and produce 621 horsepower. A few markets may also have the option of a plug-in hybrid version in the future, featuring a 3.0-liter straight-six petrol engine paired with an electric motor to produce a combined output of 503 horsepower.

Being a Maybach, the optional two-tone paint finish with a dividing line that splits the body horizontally is applied by hand with the whole process said to take up to a week. The attention to detail continues with electronically operated rear doors and an all-new MBUX Interior Assist that allows occupants to open and close the blinds or switch on the reading lights using gesture controls. The system is even programmed to detect if rear passengers reach an area of the cabin that is unlit, it will automatically switch on a multispot light to help them see better in the dark.

To offer unmatched luxury, the all-new model is also armed with a ‘Maybach’ mode on the air suspension to make every journey noticeably smoother and more comfortable than the standard S-Class. When switched on, the accelerator pedal offers smoother acceleration, the transmission starts off in second gear, and the active steering system enables rear-wheel steering of up to 10 degrees for greater maneuverability. The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is also fitted with Level 3 driver assistance systems which allow drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel in heavy traffic or on selected highways and let the car navigate itself safely and confidently.
