Porsche has been world-renowned for making some of the best sports cars in the form of the famous 911. The 911 basically cemented Porsche’s reputation as a leading carmaker in the hearts and minds of millions. However, as time went on and new trends came along, the Stuttgart-based automotive giant realized that the market for premium, sporty SUVs was heating up. In response to this, the world got introduced to the Porsche Cayenne in 2002.

The Porsche Cayenne was meticulously designed to be super fast on the road, and extremely capable off of it. Today, the Porsche Cayenne is one of the hottest premium SUVs on the market, and has catapulted the German brand to a new level. The strongest rivals of the new 2019 Porsche Cayenne are the BMW X5, Audi Q7, Range Rover Sport, and Mercedes’ GLE-Class.

Exterior

The first-gen Porsche Cayenne received a lot of flak for the way it looked. However, Porsche has kept improving the aesthetics of their flagship SUV and it shows. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne has managed to shrug off its former awkwardness, now looking more modern than ever before.

The new Cayenne features futuristic matrix LED headlights, a taut muscular hood, large, chiseled front bumper that houses LED turn signals and multiple air intake channels. The smooth yet bold side profile is complimented by massive 21-inch rims, bulging wheel arches, sleek door-mounted mirrors, and black lower-body cladding. The sophisticated rear fascia is dominated by one of the most distinct taillights in the industry. These striking LED taillights are connected to each other by an unbroken LED strip, the latter also bearing the “Porsche” brand name in the center.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne is now larger in every aspect compared to its first form – coming in at 4.926 meters in length, 1.983 meters in width, 1.673 meters in height, and wheelbase stands at 2.895 meters. Being a strict 5-seater, the Cayenne’s total boot capacity is a healthy 745 liters.

Interior

The interior of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne is blessed with impeccable materials, build quality, and fit and finish. It is also a tech-laden world that’s chock-full of gadgets, and with great attention to detail. The Cayenne’s cabin can easily swallow five adults, all the while being very comfortable as well.

The features list is endless, but to name a few:- adaptive LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, adaptive dampers, acoustic windows, electrically-operated front seats with heating, cooling, and memory function, panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, sports exhausts, ambient lighting, head-up display, and a 12.3-inch touch-infotainment display along with a 14-speaker premium sound system.

The 2019 Cayenne is dripping with safety tech, and among the usual raft of airbags and standard electronic nets, there’s also blind spot and lane departure warning, rollover stability control, hill descent control, rear-wheel steering, collision detection, and surround-view cameras, and many, many more.

Engine and performance

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne is available with three turbocharged engines - a 3.0-liter and 2.9-liter V6 in the Base and S variants, respectively, and a punchy 4.0-liter V8 in the Cayenne Turbo. The six-cylinder engines are powerful and efficient on their own, though the twin-turbo V8 produces a meaty 550 HP and 770 Nm of toque. All Cayenne models come equipped with an all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. The 2.2-ton Cayenne Turbo can reach an incredible 286 km/h top speed and rocket from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne can cost anywhere between AED 313,200 and AED 582,000. Meanwhile, insurance premium range from AED 7,047 to AED 13,095 for the Base and Turbo variants, respectively.
