A Hybrid Corvette might be possible says Reuss

Mark Reuss, General Motors North America president, hinted that Hybrid Corvette might be possible.

Los Angeles Times interviewed Mark and when the subject was brought up he said, “actually, don’t laugh! I think it would be really fun to do,” adding that people might even love it.

This year, Corvette Stingray is the most advanced one ever, which offers direct injection and cylinder deactivation technology, a V8 and a rear wheel drive.

Engineers can’t decide whether to offer stop-start technology, because they are worried that a system like this will add cost and weight which will compromise the car’s image.

That being said, Hybrid technology seems even further than the simple stop-start tech. According to some experts, the hybrid system could take the form of a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), which is found in F1 race cars like McLaren P1 and LaFerrari supercars.
