Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning to motorists in the fast lane, reminding them that driving slower than other road users and blocking the lane is one of the main causes of major accidents in the capital. In a video released online, Abu Dhabi Police advised motorists using the highway to stick to the right lanes, leaving the left lane free for overtaking.

To reduce unnecessary maneuvers and the chances of a fatal accident, Abu Dhabi Police urges motorists to keep right and let faster vehicles use the lanes to the left. If motorists notice cars overtaking from the right, they should move to the right lane and let faster vehicles pass from the left.

In line with recent accidents, Abu Dhabi Police also reminds motorists that overtaking from the right is illegal, according to Article 10.5 of the UAE Federal Traffic Law Number 21, 1995. Motorists are always requested to use their indicators and check properly before carrying out lane changes on the highway for their safety and those around them.
