Al Futtaim Toyota launches all new Hiace in the UAE

Posted by Zaran Tarapore on Apr 29, 2019

Al Futtaim Toyota, the official importer-dealer for Toyota vehicles in the UAE, launched the all-new Hiace to shake up the country’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) market. Available in two bodystyles, with a standard and high roof design, the all-new Hiace aims to cater to the various needs of its customers, both for cargo and commuter purposes.

The most noticeable change of all is the design of the Hiace which now flaunts a semi-bonnet design. With the engine relocated from above the front wheel axle, both driver and passenger benefit from better ergonomics, without heat or vibrations emanating undernearth their seats. Moreover, this also results in better serviceability, as the engine becomes easier to access.

Commenting on the launch, Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota, said, “Since its introduction in 1967, the Hiace has been the backbone of many commercial fleets around the world transporting people and goods, offering owners and fleet managers complete peace of mind.”

The completely redesigned Hiace features a new interior that reduces driver fatigue, with a unique seat lift function and new shape cushions and seatback that contribute to a more comfortable ride. In addition, a high-performance air conditioning unit with enlarged outlets have been provided for greater airflow, with an easy-slide shutoff function.

The all-new Hiace comes with two drivetrain variants. A 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 174.3 hp and 420 Nm torque, while a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with 24 valves incorporates Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) and high compression and direct injection (D4-S), to generate a maximum output of 277.6 hp and 351 Nm torque. Both engines have been paired to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
