Al Tayer Motors and Maserati celebrate 25 years of collaboration in Modena

Al Tayer Motors and Maserati have been working together to promote and sell cars in the UAE for the past quarter-century. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Maserati extended a special invite to a few key members from Al Tayer Motors to attend an event based in Modena, Italy. Given how special this event was, the VIPs from the UAE were in the middle of the showcase that was the unveiling of the MCXtrema.

Representing Al Tayer Motors for this trip was H.E. Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer and Ashok Khanna, Board Member and CEO of Al Tayer, respectively. Joining them was Hamdi El Shenawy, General Manager of Maserati, Middle East. The delegation also included David Grasso (CEO of Maserati), Bernard Loire (CEO of Maserativ Global Operations), Luca Delfino (CEO of Maserati in Europe, Middle East and Africa).

There are only 62 examples of the Maserati MCXtrema in the entire world, which makes this race-focused machine one of the rarest of cars that one can come across in the real world. Following the path of the even rarer MC12, the Maserati MCXtrema pushes the envelope to eleven – it really is one of the best sports cars produced by the Trident marque.

Speaking about this special event was the General Manager of Maserati, Middle East, Hamdi El Shenawy, who said, "We celebrate not only the 25th anniversary of our partnership with Al Tayer Motors but also the significant steps and remarkable successes we have achieved together, outlining the contours of our collaboration. Our partnership reflects shared values and a relentless pursuit of excellence in the automotive field. We reaffirm our strong commitment to customers in the UAE and look forward to continuing this distinctive journey with Al Tayer Motors, providing high levels of luxury and exceptional performance in the years to come."

Ashok Khanna, Board Member and CEO of Al Tayer, had this to say, "Through close collaboration with Maserati's team in Italy over the years, we have successfully delivered a range of the finest cars manufactured to the highest standards in the UAE. Today, we celebrate 25 years of our fruitful partnership with achievements, passion, and a commitment to excellence. I am proud of the strong relationships we have built with our loyal customers, and I am delighted to celebrate a quarter-century of representing Maserati in the UAE, witnessing many shared accomplishments."

When it comes to the Maserati MCXtrema, its design is typical of hardcore race cars. There is a ton of carbon fiber all over – including the wheels, wing mirrors, and hood. All of this ensures the mass is kept down, while the ultra-light carbon fiber monocoque body has been engineered to be structurally rigid and crash-friendly. Helping the MCXtrema’s design aspects are exterior features like a carbon-fiber front splitter, a rear fin & spoiler, plus a rear diffuser.

Coming to the technical specifications of the Maserati MCXtrema, it weighs in at around 1,300 kgs and has an overall length of about 5.2 meters. The MCXtrema is powered by a rear-mounted 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 730 hp and 730 Nm of torque – both of which are solid numbers for such a lightweight vehicle. A paddle-shift sequential gearbox handles transmission duties, which sends the power to the rear wheels via a limited-slip rear differential.

While the MCXtrema might not make it to the UAE, we can certainly expect the joint venture between Al Tayer Motors and Maserati to result in some really cool models to hit our roads for the foreseeable future.
