BMW has announced that it will be taking the covers off its flagship sedan - the 7 series - on April 20. For the first time ever, the 7 Series will be revealed in three forms: pure-combustion, plug-in hybrid and an electric saloon which will be known as the i7.

The i7 will be powered by BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive system which is also found in the iX SUV. The sedan will also share the CLAR platform with the iX SUV. BMW has remained coy regarding the specs but it has said that the i7 will have "more than 600 horsepower."

From the teaser image revealed, we can see that the i7 will sport BMW’s 'hallmark' kidney grille and slim lights having crystal glass bits. The i7’s interior will get the latest generation iDrive and a massive 31 inch display at the rear. The 'Theatre Screen', as it is named by BMW, will fold into the roof liner and offer 8K resolution. BMW says the screen will transform the car into “an exclusive, private cinema lounge” for the rear passengers.” Opulence at its best.

Frank Weber, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG for Development said: "The new BMW 7 Series is absolutely trail-blazing in every respect. It combines the best driving experience with the ultimate digital experience. This makes it the ideal vehicle for forward- thinking, responsible decision-makers and avant-garde pioneers.”
