The Lexus LS serves as the flagship model in the Japanese brand’s line-up and is currently in its fourth-generation of production. Rivalling the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series, it’s an important vehicle for the brand and one that has put the Land of the Rising Sun on the map.

Produced at the brand’s Tahara factory, the outgoing Lexus LS has been in production for over a decade and is in dire need of an update. The all-new model spotted by keen-eyed photographers in the arid American desert, is spotted with heavy camouflage and a few retro touches such as circular reflector headlamps and protruding rear tailfins.

But don’t expect pieces from Lexus’ throwback set to feature in the production model. What you can expect, though, is a large trapezoidal spindle grille, an impressive wheelbase, ample amounts of rear leg-room and a set of sizeable C-pillars.

Keeping the model’s track record in mind, the all-new Lexus LS is expected to feature a V8 engine mapped to a rear-wheel-drive layout. However, seeing the current industry trend, it wouldn’t be wrong to anticipate a hybrid / all-electric variant to join the line-up shortly. We could also expect a long wheelbase version for the Middle East market.
