The 2024 Lexus GX, a spacious SUV designed for rugged terrain, made its third-generation debut this year. This new version of the Japanese car is considered the high-end counterpart of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which is planned to come in a new form later.

It should be noted that the previous version of the Lexus GX, which was introduced in 2009, had a long production period but has now come to an end with the introduction of the all-new 2024 model. In this article, we will explain the most important features and specifications of the new 2024 Lexus GX.

Outperforming its predecessor, the new Lexus debuted with a more capable look and better off-road performance. The new Lexus also incorporates advanced technologies to enhance the driving experience. This updated SUV is expected to be available for purchase in early 2024, knowing that the price details of the 2024 Lexus GX have not been revealed at this time.

The new Lexus GX, like its sibling the 2023 Lexus LX 600, is built on the GA-F platform, the upscale production Toyota Land Cruiser. In terms of suspension, the 2024 GX model has a double wishbone suspension in the front and a multi-link in the rear.

Lexus has implemented an electronic power steering system in this new model, which the Japanese company says will improve both steering response, on and off-road. In addition, customers can choose the optional adaptive suspension with active dampers.

2024 Lexus GX: Engine & Performance

If you are a fan of big engines, you will be disappointed, as Lexus decided to discontinue the eight-cylinder V8 engine from the new Lexus GX, and the Japanese company decided to adopt a 3.4-litre double-turbo V6 engine that generates 349 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque that is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

It should also be noted that the Lexus GX will be available with more than one engine option later, including a hybrid engine, which in turn will help achieve a lower fuel consumption rate.

The new GX comes with a permanent all-wheel drive and features a Torsen limited-slip center differential as part of the standard drivetrain. Compared to the previous model, the electronically controlled transfer case enables faster transitions between 4WD High and 4WD Low modes.

Lexus GX: Exterior Design

The 2024 Lexus GX displays a clear departure from its predecessor in terms of looks. The body design shows many sharp angles while retaining the iconic Lexus spindle grille, which is seamlessly integrated into the front end.

The windshield appears more upright, which contributes to a more elegant appearance, and it is worth noting that the rear part features a straight rear windshield that can be opened, accompanied by a full-width light strip connecting the rear lamps, with the Lexus name placed above it.

The new Lexus GX also runs on 33-inch wheels and 18-inch rims, and it is possible to get 22-inch wheels in the luxury and luxury plus categories.

2024 Lexus GX: Interior

The interior of the new Lexus GX displays several notable features drawn from its siblings, the Lexus RX and LM. It includes a digital instrument cluster with a wide 12.3-inch screen, along with a 14-inch screen for the infotainment system.

Notably, this system offers wireless support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, temperature and volume controls are conveniently provided via tactile dials, while buttons for operating the transfer case and differential gear are located behind the gear knob in the centre of the vehicle.

The 2024 GX is available in two seating options, with the first option providing a capacity for six passengers, and featuring single seats for the second row. The second option seats seven, with a third seat in the second row.
