The Mitsubishi Lancer has been in production now for over forty years, and during that time, has garnered a respectable following for itself. As is apparent from its name and appearance, the Lancer EX bears strong resemblance to the manic Evolution X sports sedan. Exterior

As mentioned earlier, the exterior design of the 2019 Mitsubishi Lancer EX carries some of the most striking characteristics of its Evo X cousin. This means that the front fascia gets an aggressive bumper design with large air intakes and cool-looking C-shaper LED daytime-runners. The sleek, double-barrel headlights fit the Lancer EX well and also contribute to the overall look.

The side profile of the Lancer EX is pretty plain in comparison, though they do get body-hugging side skirts, flared wheel arches and 18-inch alloy wheels. The sharp, tapered taillights are placed high on the boot, which also features a large wing on the bootlid. Despite its relatively affordable price tag, the Lancer EX is a fairly good looking sedan – courtesy of its Evo-inspired design.

The 2019 Mitsubishi Lancer EX measures 4.570 meters in length, 1.760 meters in width, 1.490 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.635 meters. And unlike some of its rivals, the total boot volume of the Lancer EX is nothing to brag about as it is well under the Honda City’s 510-liter capacity.

Interior

The cabin of the 2019 Mitsubishi Lancer EX is spacious enough to accommodate 5 adults. While the seats may not be the best-in-class, they offer satisfactory comfort and support. Due to the tall roof, headroom is plenty even for taller occupants, while rear legroom is pretty decent as well.

This being a Mitsubishi, the quality of materials is a bit on the tacky side, though they all fit perfectly. The hard-wearing plastics are designed to last long and endure the roughest of treatments. Despite lacking outright quality, this cabin does offer plenty of convenience features. These include automatic climate control, cruise control, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, electrically-operated ORVMs, keyless entry, power sunroof, magnesium paddle shifters, and a Rockford-Fosgate premium sound system with 9 speakers.

Mitsubishi has also equipped the Lancer EX with safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, traction control, stability control, ISOFIX points, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Engine and performance

The 2019 Mitsubishi Lancer EX is powered by a 2.0-liter, naturally-aspirated four-popper that makes 150 HP and 198 Nm of torque. To enhance its fuel efficiency, the Lancer EX is fitted with a CVT (with 6 staged steps), while the driven wheels are at the front.

Despite its Evo-inspired sporty appeal, pushed hard, the 2019 Mitsubishi Lancer EX tops out at a mere 198 km/h, while the 0-100 km/h run takes a sluggish 10.7 seconds to accomplish. Fast it certainly isn’t, and scoring an average of 8.2L/100 km, the Lancer EX isn’t too frugal either.
