A campaign against sudden car swerving, which is the leading cause of all accidents in Dubai, has been launched by the Police.

Statistics made by the Dubai Police show that most of the accidents were caused by Emirati and Pakistani men.

The awareness campaign will include lectures, social media, television and radio; in addition to brochures that will be distributed by the Police to drivers throughout the UAE.

Maj Gen Mohammed Saif Al Zaffin, head of the Dubai Police traffic department, who spoke at the campaign launch yesterday, said “The campaign will urge motorists to use their turn signal every time they need to change lanes or make a turn, especially taxis,” adding that home education is also important, “Parents’ involvement in cases like these would be helpful and education at home is still lacking.”

The campaign runs until June 20.
