Aston Martin builds a million dollar car

Posted by Mansoor A. Bukhari on May 9, 2016

Aston Martin is a brand synonymous with luxury and lifestyle. It does not market itself as something associated with families or hardcore racing. But, things have changed. Recently, the brand unveiled the Vulcan – a 800 BHP fire breathing all-out track car built for fast lap times. And, then there is the Rapide, a four-door sports sedan. But, now, the brand has upped its ante and released the Aston Martin Lagonda to the world. Yes, it is the same Lagonda that was previewed couple of years back and only available to some exclusive Middle East customers. However, this vehicle has landed in the US as well for a starting price of more than a million dollars.

A million dollar plus car is usually something rare like a 250 GTO or something really fast like a Veyron. The Lagonda is neither rare or a super fast car. It is a four-door luxury saloon much like any Maybach or Rolls Royce. But, Aston believes that the price tag is justified. So, let’s have a quick look at what you get for a million dollars.

The Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf is a front-engine rear-wheel-drive car that seats four passengers and has four doors. It is powered by a 362 cubic inch 6.0 liter 48-valve V12 engine made of aluminum. The engine produces 540 BHP and 630 Nm of torque. The transmission is 8-speed automatic with manual mode. The Lagonda propels from 0-100 in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of around 310 km/h. From the inside, the car still feels like a Rapide but is longer. The body is made of carbon fiber.
